A few days ago, a friend`s little family pet dog died. It is very sad time in families when the pet dog dies.
There is a saying in western culture, “that man`s best friend is a dog.” This is not quite true, but it does go some way in illustrating how loving, faithful and beneficial a pet dog can be in families.
Man`s true best friend is the Lord Jesus Christ! One of the beautiful titles for the Lord Jesus is, “a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”
It is taken from Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
It is wonderful to note the times the Lord calls his people “Friends.”
Here for example, John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
What an incredible day in history it will be, when the Lord utters the words, “I was wounded in the house of my friends”
Zec 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
The late James Young produced an amazing poem about dogs, and their loyalty, faithfulness and beneficence to mankind. I have posted it below for those who wish to listen.
My dog can be seen in the video, he is the Weimaraner called Caleb.
